Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Management
A fundamental course for those involved in managing people and the activities of safety, health and/or environment (SHE). Emphasis is on implementing a practical and systematic approach to managing these critical areas. Professional SHE Management System Auditing
This course was designed for those with responsibility for auditing safety, health and environment (SHE) management program elements within their organization. This course provides participants with auditing knowledge, skills and methodology for using a common global approach. The course is typically presented in 4-5 days, depending on the background and experience level of participants. It is recommended that participants first complete the Safety, Health and Environment Management course or its equivalent.

CAP™ - The Common Audit Process is typically used as the core document for this course. ISO and OHSAS standards may also be used. If your company already has a management system auditing tool, RAMIREZ ASSOCIATES can customize this course to your tool, with the emphasis being on effective -auditing techniques. In-plant audit exercises can be included, or participants may be assigned to work with RAMIREZ ASSOCIATES auditors when baseline or follow up audits are scheduled as “training audits” and conducted for your company.

EFFECTIVE ACCIDENT / INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS
Designed for safety people and other managers at all levels who will have investigation responsibilities for significant accidents when the seriousness requires involvement beyond the first line supervisory level. The course focuses on proven techniques in the investigation of accidents involving loss to people, property, the environment and processes and to the investigation of near-miss incidents with potential for major or serious loss.

ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP
RCat™ - Root Cause Analysis Technique is a practical, simple tool, a detailed map through a causation model, to get you to the “root” or “basic” causes of accidents and incidents. Designed to help organizations break the cycle of ineffective investigations and repeat accidents. The workshop is typically presented in 4 – 8 hour sessions.

Investigation teams have found RCat™ extremely useful in investigative and analysis process. First-line leadership may not have the same level of skill as professional investigators but with RCat™ they have a tool to consistently assure effective investigation results.

This course is presented in 2-3 day sessions.

Introduction to Behavior-Based Safety
Behavior-based safety (BBS) has received worldwide attention. The development of the BBS process can be traced back to pioneers like Krause (USA), Geller (USA), and Schutte (RSA). Impressive behavior changes have taken place and significant reductions in injury rates have been achieved when implemented in a structured manner.

Companies that apply the principles of BBS properly have improved safety performance. This is an introductory course and provides:

  • Overview of fundamentals of behavior-based intervention
  • Knowledge to assist organizations in determining if behavior based safety would be a cost effective solution
  • Foundation for implementing a BBS strategy.

Managing Safety With a Hispanic Workforce
With the sharp increase of Hispanic workers in the US workforce, employers face the challenges of dealing with language barriers and cultural differences. Effective communications is essential to ensuring a safe work environment, and communications can only be effective when everyone understands how to get the job done the right way, the safe way…every day.

This one-day leadership course focuses on strategies to help workers understand company policies and the need to comply with SHE related programs and requirements. Through examples and exercises presented by an experienced instructor, learn how to improve your communications and understand the behavioral drivers of your workers. This course is typically presented in 1-2 days.
